SONGLINES

With Avoudé, Dogo du Togo makes a dynamic leap from the stripped-back sound of his 2022 debut to an electrifying full-band experience. Recorded in just 48 hours with The Alagaa Beat Band, the album is a vibrant, psychedelic journey filled with brass, retro synths and hard-hitting Afro-rock beats. Dogo’s decision to rework three tracks from his debut album is a bold and brilliant move.

RFI

“The Togolese artist Dogo du Togo releases a new album Avoudé, imbued with Togolese culture, history, and tradition, while sounding modern and intriguing. An exciting and delightful record composed by the singer and guitarist Serge Massama Dogo.”

POPMATTERS
“Massama Dogo’s laid-back solo debut as
Dogo du Togo two years ago proved his well-honed chops with a fairly sparse backing soundscape. As good as it was, though, his new album Avoudé, recorded with his tight-knit Alagaa Beat Band, makes for a thrilling sophomore surprise.”

KLOF
With Avoudé, Dogo du Togo and the Alagaa Beat Band have created music infused with Togolese culture, history, and tradition while also sounding excitingly modern and intriguing.

Le monde

“In this new opus, he (Dogo) offers a hypnotic sound that combines psychedelic rock, funk and voodoo melodies with great energy”

Traditional Togolese rhythms form the base of rising Togolese  artist Dogo’s remarkable music. A huge following in his home country of Togo, his popularity in the states grows day by day.

The songs are based on togolese traditional rhythms with ritual melodies (vaudou melodies) and festive melodies (bobobo, Simpa) and are about immigration, social justice and personal experiences
